In addition to the sporting activities after school, there are a wide range of extra curricular activities on offer.
Coding and design are seen as very important tools for the students to learn for the future. Coding classes are run after school on Tuesdays for boys from Third Form up to Sixth Form.
Boys in First Form up to Third Form take part in an Art club on Wednesdays. From Third Form boys can join our Chess club and as well as learning to play the game can take part in in -house tournaments
From Fourth Form upwards, boys can avail of guitar lessons. This is a very popular choice for the boys who enjoy practising their newly acquired skills at home. There is also a violin option for boys who would like to try it on Tuesdays.
Field trips are an important aspect of learning in the Junior School. Boys and their teachers visit the National Art Gallery, the National Museums and other exhibitions to consolidate work being done in the classrooms. The extensive grounds provide a natural amenity for work done in SESE and Art.
French is offered to pupils in Fourth Form up to Sixth Form. Here the emphasis is on the development of conversational skills to provide an interest in the language and is a good stepping stone for boys who may wish to study French at Second level. For the boys who opt out of the Irish class in Sixth Form there are also weekly Spanish lessons.
In the Junior School, we are very proud of our school Choir, the presence of which adds much too many occasions during the school year. Pupils from Third form upwards are eligible to join the Choir following audition. The choir rehearses once a week during school time.
From Junior Infants to Fourth Form, all boys perform in either an Easter or a Christmas Concert. These concerts are produced by the class teachers and allow all boys to develop their musical, and acting skills as well as giving the boys confidence in the performing arts. In Fifth and Sixth Forms the boys take part in a musical each January. Past musicals include Oliver, Treasure Island and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Parents and family members visit the College to see these productions which are as colourful as they are enjoyable.
Four days a week boys may stay until 4 p.m. to do their homework in a supervised environment. While this is particularly aimed at boys who are taken part in a later Tennis lesson, it also allows boys to develop the habits of independent study.
